SEPIA OFFICINALIS

WE PRESENT

SEPIA OFFICINALIS

Cuttlefish are extremely fascinating animals. Wonderfully similar to us humans and yet so different. It's like meeting an intelligent alien. Cuttlefish and cuttlefish race through their lives, making it hard to understand why they are so smart. They have so little time to use all their cleverness.

On average, they only live for one year. During this time, they use all their creativity to survive and reproduce. For example, they can change the color of their surface to express moods, or mimic the patterns of their surroundings to camouflage themselves.

Researchers recently found that they can count, are even smart enough to use tools or outwit their prey. In addition to the Sepia officinalis genus, there are many other fascinating species such as Metasepia pfefferi, the magnificent cuttlefish, or Sepia apama, a giant cuttlefish.

Ossasepia, the ancient art of goldsmithing

The technique of sepia casting has been known since antiquity. Silver is poured into the cuttlebone. The wavy structure is reflected in the pieces of jewellery, so that each cast leaves an individual imprint.
