ARS SEPIAH
This is where conceptual art comes into play. The art form of forensics means to make visible what already exists in order to recognize the true nature.
The label SEPIAH creates jewelry and objects with surfaces that are copied from Sepia officinalis. The language with which all structures in the cosmos are created is studied in a playful way. Creation proceeds in the creation of living beings in the same way as it does in plants, rivers, or the veins in the human body. If you understand this language, a dialogue arises and the opportunity to resonate with our origins. The visible connection between origin and present can be seen in objects made of imperishable materials such as gold and silver.
TRACE SEARCH
Jewelry in connection with art and science is a completely new branch, which can bring us closer to the fascination and the recognition of our own belonging on earth - up close.
Imprints of an organic life form show the code of nature, a language of forms that is constantly reinventing itself. SEPIAH is the first to apply this form of conceptual art to jewelry design.
Securing evidence is a form of conceptual art in which artists work using methods similar to those used in history and social sciences. Locard's rule says that when two objects touch, a mark must always be left on both. Therefore, the investigations typically start with the search, recording, documentation and securing of traces, followed by their evaluation.
Artists who secure evidence have doubts about the belief in technical progress and the one-dimensional view of modern media. Instead, they rely on introspection: they deal with old cultures that have mostly fallen into oblivion, try to capture artistic traces and extract statements about being human from individual relics of real or imaginary cultures. Overall, the artistic approach is similar to the methods of archeology and ethnology. Securing evidence deals with externally perceptible temporal deposits as well as with inner depth layers. Topics of securing evidence are also individual mythologies and dealing with anthropological-philosophical questions.
Thank you.
Our collections have been significantly influenced by the work of artist Nikolaus Lang, to whom we are deeply grateful for his work, friendship and knowledge that will stand the test of time. Being able to see the world through your eyes is a great gift.
