PATINA
Thanks to its unique patterns and structures, Sepiah jewelery has a very special, organic look. There are hardly any smooth, polished surfaces, but instead there is a lively play with mattness and gloss.
Patina is a surface coating that forms on metal over time. The nature with which the materials change over time reflects the lifestyle of the wearer and creates a unique piece of jewelry that has been individually co-designed by its wearer.
Possible changes are therefore quite natural in silver jewelery and gold-plated silver jewellery. Patina is caused by abrasion, contact with various liquids and frequent wear.
Imperfection welcome!
The advantage of smooth surfaces may be that their alloy is exposed to less abrasion, but with Sepiah jewelry it can happen that the gold plating on stressed, raised areas wears off due to constant wear (rings, for example), and silver comes to the fore.
We celebrate this imperfection and vibrancy of the material, because it can be beautiful!
we love patina
We find patina a fascinating and beautiful process. However, if you would like your Sepiah jewelry to look like new again, you can send it in and we will freshen it up for a small fee. You can also have silver jewelery blackened with us. The oxidation is accelerated and your piece of jewelery gets a black finish. For one of these services, please contact us via our contact form .
The signs of the times
Silver jewelry will darken over time due to oxidation. This can look very very beautiful and mysterious. The color of gold-plated jewelery can also change depending on the care.
Gold Vermeil is absolutely waterproof, but it should only come into contact with pure tap water. Salt water and cosmetics can change the color of the alloy. The same goes for heat.
In order to keep your gold-plated vermeil jewelery fresh for a long time, please refer to the jewelery care section.
